Evidence of genocide against Ukrainian people in liberated Kharkiv Oblast – Zelenskyy
OLHA HLUSHCHENKO - THURSDAY, 15 SEPTEMBER 2022, 02:35 President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine said that new evidence of Russia's genocide against the people of Ukraine is being uncovered in Kharkiv Oblast following its liberation. Source: President Zelenskyy's video address
Quote: "The Russian army has been in the Kharkiv region for over five months.
During this time, the occupiers did not even try to do anything to help the people there. The only thing they did was destroy, deprive, take things away. They left behind devastated villages; in some of them there is not a single undamaged house.
The occupiers left behind schools [that they] turned into garbage dumps and churches [that they] destroyed, [that they] literally turned into toilets [...] The world must see this destruction, must feel the pain that Russia has brought to Ukrainians.

Our law enforcement officers have already started to receive reports of murders, tortures and abductions the occupiers carried out.
What the world saw in Bucha, what we saw in the liberated territories of Chernihiv Oblast and Sumy Oblast, and what we are seeing now in Kharkiv Oblast - [all of this constitutes] evidence of genocide against Ukrainians. Evidence that Russia cannot offer anything other than genocide." Previously: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during the occupation of Izium and Balakliia in Kharkiv Oblast, the Russians behaved the same way they did in Kyiv oblast early in the war: they tortured residents and destroyed kindergartens and schools, as well as other infrastructure.
Background: The Ukrainian counteroffensive began in Khakiv Oblast in early September. Ukrainian forces reclaimed Kupiansk and Balakliia on 10 September; on the same day, the occupiers left Izium.
On 14 September, the Ukrainian flag was hosted in Izium, with President Volodymyr Zelensky attending the ceremony.
