Power supply is fully restored after attacks in Kharkiv region
ECONOMICHNA PRAVDA -- TUESDAY, 13 SEPTEMBER, 2022, 19:57 Power supply in the city and region of Kharkiv has been fully restored after Russian attacks on critical infrastructure in the region. This was reported by Kyrylo Tymoshenko, the Deputy Head of the Office of the President.
"Kharkiv Oblast. Electricity supply to the city and region has been restored to 100%," he wrote on Telegram.
Previously, relevant ministries and the Kharkiv Oblast Military Administration were instructed to prepare for the government to address the issue of allocating UAH 400 million [approximately US£1 million] for the restoration of damaged facilities and for assistance to the liberated territories [from the Russian army]. Background:
- On Sunday evening, there was no electricity supply in various neighbourhoods of the city of Kharkiv and in Kharkiv Oblast due to the attack by the occupiers on infrastructure facilities.
Blackouts were also reported in the Poltava and Sumy regions.
Some cities and communities of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast were also left without electricity due to strikes on the energy infrastructure.
- Later it became known that the strikes were conducted, in particular, on Kharkiv TPP-5, the second largest thermal power plant, on Zmiiv TPP and on high-voltage substations.
- This was preceded by the liberation of a significant part of Kharkiv Oblast by Ukrainian fighters, a region which had been occupied by the Russians for more than half a year.
