Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán just needs to be waited out, says Ukraine’s Foreign Minister

EUROPEAN PRAVDA - FRIDAY, 28 OCTOBER 2022 22:05 Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba says Ukraine will not change its position on Hungary until it causes "critical damage" to relations. European Pravda reported that Kuleba said this in an interview with Ukrainian media outlet TSN.

"Viktor Orban (Prime Minister of Hungary) is a very cunning politician. Even if he burns all the bridges, he will build a pontoon crossing. Hungary just needs to wait it out... as long as it takes," he said.

"So far there is no critical damage from Hungary's position," said Kuleba.

"There are some annoying things, but there is no critical damage. If there is critical damage, we will change our position. As long as he has his own domestic policy, he plays with it, fighting for money from Brussels, criticising Brussels, that's their business.

Everything will be fine," Kuleba promised. The Hungarian authorities have consistently called for an end to EU sanctions against Russia, claiming that they do not work and only harm Hungarians.

Recently, Orban said that the European Union's support of Ukraine through sanctions and military assistance is increasing the risk of the war spreading to the bloc's territory.

Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made this observation: if the EU stops sanctions pressure on Russia and military assistance to Ukraine, Russian tanks may end up in Budapest faster than anyone from the Hungarian government can get a call through to Moscow.
