Satellite images appeared of the Wagner PMC merciners fortification near the city of Hirske in the Donbas

22 October, 2022 Two rows of anti-tank embankments near the Russian-occupied town of Hirske in the Luhansk region Maxar Technologies showcased satellite images of Russian fortifications near the temporarily Russian-occupied city of Hirske, Luhansk region. The photos were published by CNN journalists.

The almost 2-kilometer fortification consists of four rows of dragon's teeth (concrete structures in the form of a pyramid). Behind the lines of anti-tank fortifications there is a large ditch. The Russians hope that dragon's teeth will prevent the advance of Ukrainian tanks and other equipment to the east during the liberation of the Luhansk region from the invaders.

Russian media reported that Russian mercenaries from the so-called Wagner Private Military Company were involved in the work.

"This is how the line of defense is built in the "Luhansk People's Republic." Dragon's teeth, ditches, trenches. All from military science. Engineering units of PMC Wagner work," the Russian media reported.

In the construction of fortifications were involved MDK-3 engineering vehicles. They are mounted rotary trench excavators of transverse digging.

Propagandists said it was the "second line of defense" in case Ukrainian troops tried to break through in the area. "Although the fortifications could help protect against a frontal attack, nothing prevents the Ukrainian forces from simply going around the fortifications, which extend only 1.6 kilometers," CNN writes.

Russian propagandists claim that the line of defense will be equipped from the Russian-Ukrainian border to Kreminna, and then south to Svitlodarsk. This is more than 200 kilometers.

Analysis of the images shows that now the length of Russian fortifications in the area of the village of Hirske is only 1.6 km. CNN notes that they dug trenches in two stages: the first part of the work began on September 25, the second fell approximately in the first week of October. Additional satellite images reviewed by CNN did not show any construction work along this planned "line of defense" of the invasion forces in the Donbas.
