The European Union has handed over a batch of trucks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the EU representation in Ukraine. The head of the Service of Foreign Policy Instruments of the European Union met with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine officials and other partners in Kyiv.
"Reinforcing mobility and cyberdefence capacities of Armed Forces of Ukraine via the European Peace Facility," the EU representative office reported. The statement also noted that 16 additional off road trucks crossed the border into Ukraine.

Renault Trucks 4x4 D220 off road trucks are provided to support the medical, engineering and logistics units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The EU started supplying the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine with more than 90 heavy-duty trucks under the European Peace Fund in June of this year.

It was noted that this was part of a larger aid package worth EUR31 million, which was approved on December 2, 2021. The European Peace Fund (EPF) was established in March 2021 and is aimed at strengthening the EU's ability to ensure security for its citizens and partners. This enables the EU to provide all types of equipment and infrastructure to the armed forces of EU partners.
The EPF is an extra-budgetary instrument aimed at enhancing the Union's capacity to prevent conflicts, build peace and strengthen international security by providing funding for operational actions within the framework of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) in the military and defense fields. The EPF replaces and expands the Athena Facility and the African Peace Fund. Its financial ceiling is EUR5 billion (in 2018 prices) for 2021-2027.
Contributions of member countries are determined according to the principle of distribution of gross national income (GNI).

The total contribution of the European Union within the framework of the fund will reach EUR3.1 billion.
