U.S. is launching a plan to track weapons provided to Ukraine
The United States of America has prepared a plan to counter Russia's seizure of Western weapons during the war in Ukraine. The U.S. Department of State expressed concern that Russian forces could seize samples of Western weapons and use them for sabotage.
"Russia can probably use this weapon for propaganda or conducting operations under a foreign flag," the U.S. Department of State said. The warning came amid unsubstantiated Russian claims that Ukraine plans to use a "dirty bomb" on its territory, which U.S. officials see as a potential pretext for Moscow to escalate the war.
Since Russia launched a full-scale war in Ukraine eight months ago, the United States has provided more than £17 billion in military aid.

The statement of the U.S. Department of State states that Western partners have accelerated the supply of weapons to Ukraine. And Ukraine, in turn, undertook to keep records and try to save them.
"As in any conflict, we remain vigilant about the possibility that criminal and non-state actors may attempt to illegally obtain weapons in Ukraine, including the Russian military, during or after the conflict," the statement said. Therefore, the U.S. Department of State is presenting a plan to counter the seizure of Western arms, which is a comprehensive program to:
- bolstering the ability of security forces in Ukraine and its neighboring states to account for and safeguard their arms and ammunition during transfer, in storage, and when deployed;
- improvement of regional security management;
- building the capacity of security forces, law enforcement officials, and border control agencies to deter, detect, and interdict illicit trafficking of certain advanced conventional weapons.
