General Staff names 12 settlements liberated in Kherson offensive on 9 November
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed that Ukraine regained control over 12 cities, towns and villages on 9 November as a result of a successful offensive on the Kherson front. Details: The General Staff has reported that the offensive on the Kherson front is still underway and promised to share official information about its results with time, due to "concerns about the security of the operation".
Over the course of the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have repelled Russian attacks in the vicinity of Novoselivske, Miasozharivka, Makiivka and Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast, and Vesele, Soledar, Bakhmut, Andriivka, Krasnohorivka, Opytne, Pervomaiske, Nevelske, Marinka and Pavlivka in Donetsk Oblast. Meanwhile, Russian forces have continued to fire on units of Ukraine's defence forces along the entire line of contact and are conducting aerial reconnaissance. The Russians are continuing to strike critical infrastructure and civilian homes in violation of international humanitarian law and the laws and customs of war.
Over the course of the past 24 hours, Russian forces carried out 1 missile strike and 17 airstrikes, as well as almost 100 attacks using multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS). More than 20 Ukrainian cities, towns and villages in Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv oblasts came under Russian fire.

There were no significant changes on the Volyn and Polissia fronts.
Belarus and Russia are continuing to form a joint military unit on Belarusian ground.
There is an ongoing threat of missile and airstrikes (including combat drone attacks) from the territory and airspace of the Republic of Belarus.
On other fronts, the Russians continued to fire on military and civilian targets:
- On the Sivershchyna front: Russian forces deployed mortars to fire in the vicinity of Hremiach (Chernihiv Oblast) and Kindrativka (Sumy Oblast);
- On the Slobozhanshchyna front: Russian forces deployed mortars and tubed and rocket artillery to fire on areas in and around Strilecha, Starytsia, Ohirtseve, Anyskyne and Vilkhuvatka;
- On the Kupiansk and Lyman fronts: Russian forces deployed tank guns and artillery of various calibres to fire on areas in and around Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Tabaivka, Berestove, Stelmakhivka, Miasozharivka, Novoselivske, Makiivka and Nevske;
- On the Bakhmut front: the Russians deployed tank guns and all types of artillery at their disposal to fire on areas in and around Bilohorivka, Rozdolivka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Opytne, Andriivka, Kurdiumivka, Toretsk, New-York and Maiorsk;
- On the Avdiivka front: the Russians deployed tanks and various types of artillery to fire on areas in the vicinity of Vesele, Avdiivka, Vodiane, Pervomaiske, Nevelske, Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Paraskoviivka and Novomykhailivka;
- On the Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia fronts: the Russians fired on areas in and around Vuhledar, Bohoiavlenka, Pavlivka, Prechystivka, Velyka Novosilka, Neskuchne, Bilohiria, Stepove and Shevchenko using tank guns, mortars and tubed and rocket artillery;
- On the Pivdennyi Buh front: Novokyivka, Dobra Nadiia, Illinka, Marhanets, Nikopol and Musiivka in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast were shelled using artillery.
