Night drone attack: six Shahed UAVs destroyed on approach to Kyiv

Details: Ihor Taburets, Head of the Cherkasy Oblast Military Administration, reported that the Russians terrorised one of the hromadas of the Cherkasy district all night [an administrative unit designating a town, village or several villages and their adjacent territories].

Air defence shot down two Shaheds, one of which hit an infrastructure target.

Taburets said there were no casualties.

Background:

  • The Air Force reported that during an attack by the invaders on the night of 1-2 November, they shot down 12 out of 13 Shahed-136 kamikaze drones, six of which were eliminated in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
  • Since 10 October, the Russian Federation has carried out a series of massive attacks on energy facilities in Ukraine, also using Iranian kamikaze drones.
  • Oleksii Kuleba, Head of Kyiv Oblast Military Administration, said that if the Russian army continues to attack energy infrastructure facilities, interruptions to power and heat supply might last several weeks at a time.
  • On the morning of 2 November, hourly power outage schedules were again implemented in Ukraine due to damage to critical infrastructure as a result of Russian shelling.
