All of Sumy Oblast has electricity, power supply in Kharkiv Oblast partially restored

The whole of Sumy Oblast has electricity again after this morning's missile attack by the Russian Federation on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, while in Kharkiv Oblast, power engineers have begun to restore the electricity supply. This was reported on Telegram by Dmytro Zhyvytskyi, Head of the Sumy Oblast Military Administration, and Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the Kharkiv Oblast Military Administration. Thank you to the power engineers!" wrote Zhyvytskyi. He urged people to consume electricity sparingly and thanked the Armed Forces of Ukraine, "especially the air defence units".

According to Syniehubov, Kharkiv Oblast has started to restore power. "Parts of Zmiiv, Izium, Bohodukhiv, Lozova, Balakliia, Nova Vodolaha and Krasnokutsk hromadas [an administrative unit designating a city and its adjacent territories - ed.] already have electricity.

The [energy] supply has been partially restored in the city of Kharkiv," he wrote. Syniehubov said power engineers are doing all they can to quickly supply energy to everyone who was left without electricity due to the Russian attack.

Background:

A third of consumers in Kirovohrad Oblast had their power supply restored after being cut off as a result of the Russian attack on the morning of Friday, 16 December. The Russian missile attack on the morning of 16 December damaged approximately nine generation facilities and restricted the production of nuclear power plants. Ukraine's north, south and centre suffered most of the damage.

An emergency mode of operation was introduced only for electricity suppliers.

The massive Russian attack left Kharkiv completely without electricity, and the running of the metro was suspended.
