Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry: If Hungary wants to move towards peace, it can start by calling on Russia to end war

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has advised Hungary to call on Russia to end the war. Source: European Pravda; Oleh Nikolenko, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, on Facebook "If Hungary is eager to move towards peace, they can start by calling on Russia to end the war.

Considering the number of meetings with Russian representatives, the opportunity for such a step should have already been found," Nikolenko stated. This statement was a response to the comment of the State Secretary of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry for Bilateral Relations, Tamas Menzer, who said that Budapest would not train the Ukrainian military on its territory because "it wants to move not to war but to peace".

The statement of the representative of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry was made amid reports that some states, for example, the Czech Republic, have already started or are planning to start training military personnel from Ukraine on their territory. This is a part of the European Union's EUMAM mission, whose mandate will initially last for two years, and the financial benchmark for total expenditures for this period is EUR106.7 million.

The mission will ensure coordination with member states' bilateral activities in support of Ukraine, as well as with other international partners, and will be open to third-country participation.
