Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine announced this. This statement was presented during the "UAV Production: Opportunities and Challenges" conference. "Due to the Army of Drones project within the UNITED24 platform, we provide our military with the best 'birds' and stimulate the development of the Ukrainian UAV manufacturers.

Over seven months of the project, almost 1,600 drones worth UAH 3.3 billion have already been contracted," Fedorov emphasized. According to him, a part of them are Ukrainian-made drones.

"The Ukrainian UAV market has great potential.

Together with the government team, we are systematically working to support our manufacturers and simplify various bureaucratic issues," the government official added. According to Fedorov, this will allow businesses to develop and expand even faster. During the conference, representatives of the government, the Armed Forces, volunteers, and manufacturers discussed the development of the UAV industry in Ukraine.

The Army of Drones program consists of the systematic procurement of drones, their repair and maintenance, operational replacement of UAVs, if necessary, and even a pilot training course. The project was launched by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the UNITED24 platform. In the fall of 2022, 7 models of Ukrainian-made UAVs were approved to operate in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

At the beginning of this year, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov stated that in 2023, the Ministry of Defense plans to spend UAH 20 billion to purchase drones of various use types (aerial, ground, surface, and underwater). According to him, this list includes unmanned vehicles produced by Ukrainian companies.

In December last year, it was reported that Ukrainian foundations and volunteers faced the problem of bringing civilian drones to Ukraine due to bureaucratic obstacles.

Subsequently, the Cabinet of Ministers simplified the customs clearance procedure for civilian and dual-use drones.
