Vitaliy Koval, Head of the Regional Military Administration, announced this. "We are actively constructing engineering fortifications in the north, as well as anti-tank ditches. All 229 shared kilometers with the Republic of Belarus are being strengthened so that Russian troops could not enter deep into our region if the Belarusian authorities allow them to launch an offensive," he wrote.
He also stressed that the local residents assist the military in equipping engineering fortifications.

"Local volunteers come every day to dig anti-tank trenches and help construct appropriate fences and fortifications. There are also those who constantly work, even on holidays," Vitaliy Koval added.
Recently, the Regional Directorate of the Territorial Defense Forces "West" published a photo capturing the works on arranging fortifications. "First of all, the Sarny and Varas districts are being strengthened. Residents of these communities have united and helped the military dig trenches," the report said.

Previously, the Situational Center was set up in the Volyn region to monitor the situation on the border with Belarus. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine stated that law enforcement officers will be able to respond in a timely manner to any provocations of the neighboring state.

The center is equipped with a modern computer and special equipment, and a video system. The center will receive information on the situation at the border with Poland and Belarus.
The Volyn Border Detachment is responsible for these sections on the border. In addition, in November, a reinforced concrete fence started being constructed, and the line of protection was equipped on the border with Belarus.

Fortifications are also planned to be built in Volyn, Rivne, and Zhytomyr regions, as well as at the border with the Russian Federation.
