Greece not to provide Ukraine with Leopard 2 tanks – Prime Minister
Greece will not provide Ukraine with German-made Leopard 2 tanks. Source: Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of Greece, in an interview with Nikkei Asia, European Pravda reports. Mitsotakis said that Athens has provided significant military support to Ukraine, including armoured personnel carriers.
Quote: "We will not provide Leopard 2 tanks for the simple reason that they are absolutely necessary for our defence posture," Mitsotakis stated.
"We've also always made it very clear that we are willing to support Ukraine but not at the expense of our defence capabilities," Mitsotakis added. At the same time, he did not point to tensions with Turkey as a justification for such a position. The Greek army has about 350 Leopard 2 tanks at its disposal.
