This time, the invaders deployed the Kh-22 - a supersonic anti-ship missile. The Air Force reported that on January 14, five Kh-22 cruise missiles were launched toward the territory of Ukraine from long-range Tu-22M3 bomber jets of the Russian Air Force. Launches were conducted in the Kursk region from the waters of the Azov Sea.
One of those missiles hit a high-rise building in Dnipro.

They also emphasized that Ukraine does not have the weapons capable of shooting down this type of missile. According to the Air Force, since the beginning of Russia's military aggression, over 210 missiles of this type have been fired at the territory of Ukraine. None were shot down by air defense.
"Only anti-aircraft missile systems which will be provided to Ukraine in the future by the Western partners (specifically systems like Patriot PAC-3 or SAMP-T), are capable of intercepting these air targets," the report reads.
It is emphasized that the weight of the Kh-22 missile warhead is approximately 950 kg, and the maximum flight range is up to 600 km. When the missile is used for long distances, the deviation from the target can be hundreds of meters. In the comment section on social media, Yuriy Ihnat, Spokesman for the Air Force Command, clarified that the information circulating about the alleged downing of Kh-22 missiles is not true.

"Let's say fragments of Kh-22 were found in the field (and sometimes it's not even Kh-22, but fragments of another missile), and then the report to the Command follows: we shot down the Kh-22!!! Everyone wants to inform about this on their resources first. Without conducting checks, without getting approval, etc.
The main thing is to be the first... Due to this "responsiveness," there were several reports of "downed" Kh-22, and even "downed" enemy S-300s. I have been discussing this for at least half a year: what we can knock down and what we can't...
Information provided on official resources is generally reliable, but there are several publications with "downed" Kh-22, and this is a fact!" Yuriy Ihnat shared.
