Zelenskyy and Steinmeier discuss defence support and peace formula

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has discussed the need to increase defence support for Ukraine and the diplomatic process to implement the Ukrainian peace formula with his German counterpart, Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Source: Zelenskyy at a meeting in the format of a video conference, on his Telegram channel, reported by European Pravda Details: "We discussed the situation at the front line, the need to increase defence support for Ukraine, and the diplomatic process of implementing the Ukrainian peace formula," Zelenskyy noted.

Zelenskyy emphasised that Ukraine appreciated the important defence decisions adopted by the German leadership at the beginning of this year, as well as Germany's significant humanitarian, financial and defence support since the very start of Russia's full-scale invasion.

Zelenskyy thanked Germany for its comprehensive assistance, in particular, for strengthening the army, financial stability, and for sheltering Ukrainian refugees. Background:
On Tuesday, 17 January, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz officially confirmed the appointment of a new defence minister. Boris Pistorius, the Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lower Saxony, will hold this position.
