Denmark will hand over Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine
Denmark plans to purchase back previously retired Leopard 1A5 tanks to ship them to Ukraine as part of military assistance. Danish DR media reported this. According to the media, Denmark, in cooperation with other countries, is preparing a project to restore and transfer Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine.
Previously, the tanks were retired by the Danish Armed Forces and sold to FFG, but they are still in Denmark. The German company Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft (FFG) purchased 100 Leopard 1A5 tanks from Denmark in 2010 to be converted into special vehicles and subsequently resold.

Under this export license, Rheinmetall would be able to transfer 88 tanks. Another 99 would come from FFG.
Leopard 1
Leopard 1 is the main battle tank produced by the German concern Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. Tanks were produced between 1964 and 1984 with a total of 4,700 units of various modifications manufactured.
The Leopard 1A5 is the most advanced production model of this tank family.

Denmark upgraded all of its Leopard 1A3s to a 1A5 level. Leopard 1A5 is equipped with a modern fire control system and night vision system. To install new equipment, the tank received a new turret.
The Leopard 1A5 is armed with an L7A3 105mm gun capable of firing all standard 105 mm projectiles manufactured by NATO countries. In total, the tank has 60 rounds of ammunition.
18 of them are the first-stage ammunition in the turret, and another 42 rounds are stored in the hull. The gun has a maximum effective range of up to 3000 meters.
Leopard 1A5 secondary armament includes a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun mounted to the right of the turret. The second 7.62mm machine gun is mounted on top of the turret at the commander's hatch. The tank is equipped with a 10-cylinder MTU MB 838 Ca M-500 multi-fuel engine, developing 830 hp at 2200 rpm in combination with a ZF 4 HP 250 transmission with four forward gears and two reverse gears.
It can reach a maximum speed of 65 km/h on the road with a maximum range of 600 km and 450 km off-road.
