Russian agent who collected intelligence information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine detained in Odesa

Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine has exposed an agent of the Russian special services in Odesa. This is reported by the SSU. The agent turned out to be a former military man who has actively collected intelligence on combat training measures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the southern region since 2020.
According to the SSU, the man has been in contact with the federal security service (FSB) of the Russian Federation since 2010. It is reported that the Russian agent paid special attention to the progress of international military exercises in the Black Sea and training of ground forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at training grounds. He also tried to track the shipments of military products and dual-use goods through the seaports of Odesa, Mariupol, Black Sea, Izmail and Skadovsk.
"The SSU officers documented the facts of the intelligence and subversion of the enemy agent, as well as identified his Russian curators," the report said. According to the investigation, a conspiratorial agent of the Russian special services turned out to be a local resident, who in 1990 graduated from the Kostroma Higher Command Academy with a degree in intelligence chemistry. Until the mid-90s, the man served in the headquarters of the Odesa Military District and resigned with the rank of captain.
"After that, he went into business and opened a store selling sports equipment in the city center. In addition, he was engaged in smuggling of respective products from the Russian Federation. Thus, he came to the attention of the Russian special services, "the SSU notes.

According to Ukrainian counterintelligence, during another such trip of the man to the territory of the Russian Federation, he was recruited by an officer of the FSB department in the Kursk region.
Currently, the issue of choosing a measure of restraint to the Russian agent in the form of detention is being considered.
