Video shows Ukrainian defenders destroying Russian missile with MANPADS on Friday

Ukrainian defenders shot down a Russian missile in the south of the country using a man-portable air defence system (MANPADS) on 10 February. Background:

  • An air-raid siren was sounded throughout Ukraine on the morning of 10 February.  The Oblast Military Administrations reported that the air defence was in operation and that Russian missiles were hitting infrastructure facilities.
  • Ukrainian defenders reportedly shot down 61 out of 71 cruise missiles, as well as 5 UAVs, on the evening of 9 February and the morning of 10 February.

    Russia fired 106 missiles on Ukraine in total, including 35 S-300s.

  • Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said two Russian Kalibr cruise missiles had crossed Romanian airspace during the large-scale missile attack on 10 February.
