Presidential Office told about negotiations with Poland regarding the return of children kidnapped by the Russians
The Deputy Head of the Office of the President Ihor Zhovkva and Minister of European Union Affairs of Poland Szymon Szynkowski vel Sek discussed the development of effective mechanisms for the return of Ukrainian children who have been kidnapped by the Russians. Zhovkva wrote about this on his Facebook page, European Pravda writes. According to Zhovkva, the conversation was about preparations for the next meeting of the European Council, which will take place next week, and its expected results in the context of Ukraine's interests.
"The issue of the effectiveness of the EU's sanctions policy against the Russian aggressor, the level of EU support in the defence sphere and assistance in the reconstruction of the liberated territories were discussed. They also exchanged views on the issue of the stealing of Ukrainian children by Russia, the development of effective mechanisms for their return to Ukraine, and ways to hold the Russian Federation accountable for the crimes committed ", he said.
At the end of February, it became known that the European Commission and Poland are launching an initiative to search for Ukrainian children illegally deported by the Russian military from the occupied territories of Ukraine. The aim of the initiative is to unite forces to gather evidence to find kidnapped children and bring those responsible for the crimes to justice.
Last week, the European Commission promised to announce the details of the initiative in the coming days.
