The Bundeswehr announced this. They rely on their experience of working with similar air defense systems that are already in service with the German army. The German Ministry of Defense noted that the use of the IRIS-T SLM air defense system is being simulated to train Ukrainian soldiers for various application scenarios.

The military reported that during the first combat use, the system hit 100 percent of the targets. As previously reported, in October 2022, Ukraine received the first of four IRIS-T air defense systems. The deal was funded by the German government.

IRIS-T SLX; IRIS-T SLM; IRIS-T SLSThere are medium and small radius modifications of the system.
The IRIS-T SLM allows hitting aerial targets at a distance of up to 40 km, and the "shorter" SLS version can reach up to 25 km. The primary means of detecting aerial objects is the CEAFAR GBMMR radar with active phased antenna grates. The system can also operate with the German TRML-4D radar (Hensoldt), which detects aerial targets at a distance of up to 250 km.
