Tamil Nadu police on Wednesday arrested popular YouTuber Manish Kashyap, a native of Patna in Bihar, for spreading fake videos on social media about migrant workers being attacked in the southern state.

He was taken into transit remand by the Tamil Nadu police following his surrender at Jagdishpur police station in Bihar's West Champaran district. The TN police camped in Bihar to nab those who had created panic among migrant workers in TN using fake videos and reports. Three persons, who are natives of Bihar, were booked by the TN special police unit recently.

Out of this, two obtained anticipatory bail while Kashyap surrendered. After his arrest, he was produced before the special court in Patna and the court granted transit remand to the Tamil Nadu police. Following this, he was taken on a flight to Chennai on Wednesday evening.

He will be produced before the Madurai branch of the Madras High Court on Friday after interrogation, according to police sources. A tense situation had prevailed in Tamil Nadu as rumors spread on social media that inter-state workers were being attacked. The immediate interventions from Tamil Nadu and Bihar governments and the steps taken by them defused panic among the workers.

TN police has so far registered 14 cases in connection with spreading fake videos on migrant workers.
