Meghan Markle fires back at British media rumors of 'unsatisfying …
Meghan Markle will not be present at the Coronation of King Charles III and will instead celebrate Prince Archie's fourth birthday at home in Montecito. According to an article in the Daily Telegraph, Meghan raised issues of unconscious bias within the Royal Family in correspondence with then Prince Charles following her and Prince Harry's interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021. The article claimed that Meghan was left "unsatisfied" by King Charles' response, which was one of the reasons for her absence from the event.
However, a spokesperson for the Duchess of Sussex refuted these claims in a statement to HELLO!: "The Duchess of Sussex is going about her life in the present, not thinking about correspondence from two years ago related to conversations from four years ago. Any suggestion otherwise is false and frankly ridiculous. We encourage tabloid media and various royal correspondents to stop the exhausting circus that they alone are creating."
Confirmed: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been invited to King Charles' coronation
The letters exchanged between Meghan and Charles were said to contain the identity of the senior member of the Royal Family who asked about Prince Archie's skin color.
Meghan and Charles both agreed that the comment was not made maliciously. Meghan's interview with Oprah Winfrey also revealed that the then Duchess of Cambridge reduced her to tears over the dresses of her flower girls, although Kate later apologized. Meghan also spoke candidly about her mental health struggles during her time as a working royal.
Meghan is featured in the official souvenir program
Despite her absence, Meghan is featured in the official souvenir program for the Coronation, which includes a family photo taken in 2018.
The photo shows Charles and Camilla sitting with their grandchildren, including Prince George and Princess Charlotte, while the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are also present. Prince Harry and Meghan are standing beside Prince William in the photo. Relations between Harry and Meghan and the rest of the Royal Family remain strained.
The Queen and other members of the family were reportedly hurt by the revelations made in Harry and Meghan's interviews with Oprah Winfrey.
However, the Royal Family is moving forward with the Coronation of King Charles III, and preparations for the event are well underway.
