"Thus, 359 persons were located on the territory of our country who are the subject of alerts in the SIS (Schengen Information System), following the additional exchange of information through the SIRENE Bureau of the International Police Cooperation Center - General Police Inspectorate Romanians", a press release provided by the Romanian Police has revealed. Authorities in Romania have implemented a total of 11 European arrest warrants, according to a report provided by Gazeta de Sud. The same noted that 60 people were reported by the Member States as being prohibited from entering the Schengen Zone countries, SchengenVisaInfo.com[2] reports.

The report noted that 154 people wanted to participate in a judicial procedure, while another 11 detected people were reported as missing by Romanian partners in the Schengen states. In addition, 31 documents were seized from Romania. It was also revealed that a total of 178 persons wanted by Romanian authorities were detected by foreign partners on their territories.

"Of these, 27 were pursued by the Romanian Police, based on European arrest warrants.

11 were reported by the member states as having refused entry or stay on the Schengen territory, another 22 people were wanted for participating in a judicial procedure, and five were reported missing by the Romanian authorities," the report notes. Besides, Romanian's partners from other countries identified on their territory a motor vehicle as well as 13 documents sought by authorities in Romania in order to make them unavailable or to be used as evidence in the criminal proceedings. This is not the first time that authorities have been subject to similar situations.

Earlier this month, it was reported that a group of 11 people coming from Pakistan and Bangladesh who attempted to cross Romania[3] to Hungary in an unlawful way on foot were stopped by the border police of Satmara. According to local media reports, the same was detected by border police officers of the Petea Border Police Sector during an action against illegal migration. Romanian police officials have detected a larger number of persons who attempt to reach this country illegally.

In February this year, six nationals from Afghanistan were arrested by Romanian border officers[4] who were attempting to reach Hungary illegally via Romania.
