Queen Camilla Was “Bothered” and “Hurt” by Prince Harry's Memoir
Queen Camilla's friend, Fiona Shelburne--also known as the Marchioness of Lansdowne or Lady Lansdowne--is breaking her silence on what the Queen Consort has been feeling in recent months. In an interview with the Sunday Times, Lady Lansdowne opened up on Queen Camilla's feelings on her stepson Prince Harry's memoir, her grandchildren's roles in the coronation, and more. "Of course it bothers her, of course it hurts," Lady Lansdowne said of what Harry wrote about Camilla in Spare. "But she doesn't let it get to her.
Her philosophy is always, 'Don't make a thing of it and it will settle down - least said, soonest mended.'" In his memoir, Prince Harry wrote, "I didn't relish losing a second parent, and I had complex feelings about gaining a stepparent, who I thought had recently sacrificed me on her personal PR altar." He also accuses Camilla of leaking stories about him and his brother, Prince William. Elsewhere in the interview, Lady Lansdowne says Camilla was adamant about including her friends and family in the upcoming coronation. "She is fiercely loyal to friends and that will be reflected in who goes to the big day. She wants to be loyal to the people who've stood by her," she said.
This includes having three of her grandsons, and one of her grand-nephews, serve as her pages. Of the coronation details, Lansdowne added, "She's not going to be pushed about. She won't have a hissy fit, but she'll say, 'No, I want it done this way.'"
