On the territory of Ukraine, Russian invasion forces are supposedly using attack helicopters to eliminate their abandoned armored vehicles on the front line. This can be evidenced by a video published on social networks. In the recently appeared video the invaders showcase the armored vehicles that were damaged or simply abandoned by their crews during the hostilities.

As observers in social networks found out, the Russians had hit two of their own infantry fighting vehicles in the Donetsk region from a combat helicopter.

OSINT analysts discovered that the invaders presumably targeted their BMP-1 in the area of Mykilske settlement.

The combat vehicles of the invaders were abandoned near the forest strip between the fields.

Russian attack helicopters are likely to have used guided anti-tank missiles to destroy armored vehicles.

It is unknown why the invaders might need to destroy their own abandoned infantry fighting vehicles. Apparently, they did not have the opportunity to evacuate them for repairs to the temporarily occupied territory.

Also, the Russians might not want these combat vehicles to become trophies of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and therefore decided to use aviation to destroy them. As previously reported, last month a Russian Ka-52 attack helicopter crashed in the temporarily occupied part of Ukraine.

On March 16, the Ka-52 presumably ran into a power line and crashed. The Russian pilots are also confirmed to have died.

There were also cases when Russian air defenses shot down their own planes over Ukraine. For example, Russian air defense shot down a Ka-52 helicopter in the Zaporizhzhia region last December.
