Akwesne Mohawk police say the search continues today for a local man whose boat was found at the site of eight bodies pulled from the St. Lawrence River last week.

The force issued a statement one afternoon saying the search would continue until sunset for 30-year-old Akwesane resident Casey Oakes, who authorities have been searching for since Thursday when the migrants' bodies were first discovered. 11

Officials in the Mohawk region of Akwesane say a child is missing after the bodies of six immigrants of Indian and Romanian descent were pulled from the river on Thursday. The Canadian Press/Ryan Remiorz Oakes was last seen on Wednesday night driving a boat that was found next to the bodies of the migrants, but police have not made any direct link between Oakes and the deaths.

Story continues below Advertisement Police on Saturday identified two of the migrants as Christina (Monalisa) Zenaida Iordache, 28, and Florin Iordache, 28, who were carrying Canadian passports for two of the victims' young children. The identity of the four Indian nationals is yet to be confirmed.
