All 13 fighter aircraft, which the country's government has previously decided to hand over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine to counter the Russian invasion, are already on the territory of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense of Slovakia reported on Monday. The first batch of four fighter jets was handed over to the Ukrainian Air Force in March of this year. They took off from the air base under the control of Ukrainian pilots.
Ukraine has now received the remaining 9 Slovak MiG-29 fighter jets.

"This transfer was carried out by land with the maximum possible security in mind, once again a huge gratitude to all the forces involved, because in such cases it is a really important and complex logistical operation," emphasized the Minister of Defense of the Slovak Republic, Jaroslav Nad'.
The Minister emphasizes that the MiG-29 is a significant support for Ukraine in defending against a full-scale Russian invasion and for the protection of human lives. As previously reported, in March the Government of Slovakia approved the transfer of 13 MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine. The fighter jets will be transferred under the defense assistance.
The aircraft should help the Air Force of Ukraine establish control over airspace and intercept enemy targets. The country delivered the first four fighter jets last month. Ukrainian pilots moved the fighter jets with the assistance of the Slovak Air Force and Ukrainian personnel.

MiG-29 fighter jets were withdrawn from service with the Armed Forces of Slovakia last year. Previously, the Minister of Defense of Slovakia stated that Russian technicians, who had until recently serviced the MiG-29 fighter jets of the Slovak Air Force, might have intentionally damaged the aircraft.
