According to police sources, the complaint has been filed by a 19-year-old Odisha woman who is employed at a garment unit. She was reportedly in a relationship with Akash Bhairava (21), a native of Rajasthan and employed at a private firm in Palladam. On April 16, Bhairava took her to the house of his friend Virender Singh (31), also from Rajasthan and working in a private firm in Nambiampalayam area.

While Bhairava was away, Singh reportedly raped her and threatened her not to tell anyone. The survivor later accused Bhairava of being in cahoots with Singh about the plan of rape and filed a complaint of rape against both of them. The police arrested the duo based on the survivor's complaint and produced them before the court on Tuesday morning.

They have been remanded in Tirupur district jail.
