The cause of the moving train derailment is still unknown. Russian media assume that the cause of the incident could be sabotage - traces of damage to railway tracks were allegedly found on the spot. Telegram channel Rospartizan stated this to indeed be the sabotage on the railway.

However, this information has not been confirmed. The fact of sabotage is also denied by the emergency services working at the scene.
