Near the city of Pisky in the Donetsk region, the Ukrainian servicemen from the 59th Motorized Brigade and the 55th Artillery Brigade defeated a Russian column of armored vehicles and stopped the offensive of the invaders. As a result of the battle, with the help of minefields, artillery support and FGM-148 Javelin ATGM, five enemy armored vehicles were destroyed, including a tank, two BMD-2 and two rather rare AMN-590951 armored vehicles.

Defending the position from the Russian attack, seven Ukrainian soldiers managed to capture two dozen Russian soldiers who had survived. A total of 22 men were captured.

The Ukrainian serviceman with the call sign Madyar said that the captured invaders belonged to a unit of the Russian Storm PMC. The entire process of surrendering Russian soldiers, accompanied by the surrender of weapons and all ammunition, was captured on video.

According to Madyar, all prisoners were captured according to all norms and were not injured, after which they were evacuated from the battlefield.

Storm PMC

The Storm unit is a Russian private military company that was established under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of Defense in 2022. The main source of the manpower inflow to the unit is recruited Russian prisoners. A number of independent sources report that the recruitment of prisoners to the special Storm battalions is aimed at released military personnel and correctional colonies for former security forces.

The units of this "penal" battalion have already distinguished themselves in the battles for Soledar in Donetsk region as assault infantry.
