The road is located on the border between Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus, and the site of the attack is next to the Three Sisters monument, which symbolizes the "friendship of three peoples". It is located in Senkivka, Chernihiv region. A video capturing the explosion was published online.
The monument was not damaged, and the extent of the destruction of the road surface is unknown. The State Border Service of Ukraine reported that this happened the day before, on May 30.
Andrii Demchenko, Spokesman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, shared with Ukrainian Pravda that the Russian troops are likely afraid of an offensive towards the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation. "As we can see, they moved from "capturing Kyiv in three days" to blowing up roads, probably fearing that Ukraine would attack their regional center. But Ukraine is not an aggressor.
As I have already emphasized, our state is exclusively conducting defense, and we do not need Bryansk. However, we do need the fall of the decision-making center where they decided to launch a war against Ukraine, so let them blow it up," said Demchenko.
Location of the Three Sisters monumentRussian propaganda Telegram channels, which also shared this video, called the direction in which the road was blown up "tank-dangerous". The road was blown up after a raid conducted by the Russian units of the Russian Volunteer Corps and the Legion of Freedom of Russia in the Belgorod region on May 22, 2023.
Prior to that, in March, soldiers of the Russian Volunteer Corps reported that they had conducted an operation in the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the Russians are building fortifications on their territory. In February of this year, Aleksander Bogomaz, governor of the Bryansk region, demonstrated the structures being built in the territory of the region.
These are the so-called "dragon's teeth".
