The so-called head of the "Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic" representative office in the Russian Federation, Leonid Manakov, made the corresponding statement during an interview with the Russian mass media, which was published on Monday, May 8. According to him, the current number of "peacekeepers" in the so-called security zone does not exceed 450, while their number of employees, established by the documents of the Joint Control Commission, amounts to 3,100 people. He notes that the option of increasing the presence of Russians exists, and it is justified from the point of view of the alleged worsening of the security situation, including the terrorist threat, and at the same time is legally justified by documents adopted within the framework of the Joint Control Commission.
Also, Manakov said that Transnistria had repeatedly asked for an increase in the number of Russian "peacekeepers".

It should be noted that such calls are related to the fact that Russia currently has no real possibility of transferring its troops to this region of Moldova.

As previously reported, in March, the unrecognized "Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic" announced the prevention of a "terrorist attack" against officials allegedly on the instructions of the Security Service of Ukraine. They also noted that the suspects were allegedly detained and already giving testimony. It was reported that a car with explosives parked by the road was supposed to detonate when it drove past the Transnistrian officials.
A total of 8 kg of hexane and screws, nuts, and wires were allegedly found in the car.
