In the battle, Ukrainian assault detachments neutralized the BMP-2. During the examination, it turned out that the IFV was equipped with a rare 675-sb3KDZ additional protection kit. It is known that as of 2021, the Russian army has acquired a very small number of such kits - about 100.

This kit consists of polymer panels that are supposed to protect the vehicle from enemy fire.

The panels have positive buoyancy, that is, the amphibious capabilities of the vehicle are preserved. At the same time, in addition to bulletproof properties, the polymer panels can also have capabilities to protect the vehicle against high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) attacks, acting as NERA elements.

Together with the slat armor, they are able to reduce the effectiveness of anti-tank grenade launchers to some extent, but the captured vehicle was not equipped with slat armor.

This is not the first case of Ukrainian forces coming across armored vehicles, which are equipped with 675-sb3KDZ kits. In 2022, soldiers from the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade reported capturing BMP-2 with this kit. Also last year, Ukrainian forces destroyed such vehicles.
