Air defense shoots down 4 Russian missiles, 10 kamikaze drones and 4 reconnaissance UAVs

Ukrainian air defense forces have shot down missiles and drones used by the Russians to attack Ukraine. Overall, 4 Russian cruise missiles, 10 kamikaze drones and 4 reconnaissance UAVs were shot down. According to the military, on the night of June 9, between 10:00 p.m. and 04:00 a.m., Russian invaders attacked Ukraine with Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones and Kh-101/Kh-55 air-launched cruise missiles, targeting military facilities and critical infrastructure.

Shahed launches were carried out from the southern direction.

Cruise missiles were launched from four Tu-95MS strategic bombers in the Caspian Sea area. The Ukrainian Air Force noted that up to 16 kamikaze drones and six air-launched cruise missiles were used during the Russian attack. In the areas of responsibility of the Air Commands "East," "Center" and "South," the air defense forces of the Air Force in cooperation with the air defense of other components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, destroyed four Kh-101/Kh-55 cruise missiles, ten Shahed-136/131 and Lancet loitering munition, as well as four Orlan-10 and Supercam UAVs.

"Also, around 8:00 p.m. on June 8, the Russians carried out strikes from the Black Sea with two Kalibr missiles at one of the civilian objects in Cherkasy region," the Air Force reported.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the premises of a car wash and an industrial facility were destroyed as a result of a missile strike in the Uman district. According to preliminary information, eight people were injured, two of them severely.

The head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Bunechko said that in the Zhytomyr region, previously, one missile was shot down by air defense forces during the night air alert.

As a result of falling debris, 1 residential building and 12 damaged were destroyed in the town of Zviahel. In consequence, 1 person died and 3 people were injured.
