Ukrainian Armed Forces launch a missile attack on the airfield in occupied Berdyansk

30 June, 2023 Traces of anti-aircraft missiles in the sky of occupied Berdyansk, June 30, 2023 The Armed Forces of Ukraine struck at the invaders at an airfield in occupied Berdyansk with Storm Shadow cruise missiles. This was reported by the Berdyansk city military administration on its social media.

On June 30, at about 9:30 a.m., a missile attack was launched on the Berdyansk airport, which was used by the invaders as a place of deployment of attack helicopters. Local residents report the work of Russian air defense, 11 explosions, as well as fire and smoke columns in the direction of the airport. The video shows black smoke uncharacteristic of the anti-aircraft missile trail, which resembles traces of fire. The video is accompanied by sounds of secondary detonations.

The Berdyansk Military Administration reported that as a result of the strike, the headquarters of the invaders, as well as ammunition depots, were hit. The StratCom of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also confirmed the strike by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and announced the defeat of the headquarters and warehouses with fuels. Subsequently, Russian propaganda media published a video of the missile wreckage, which, according to them, was found on the outskirts of the occupied city.

The markings and serial numbers on the wreckage allow it to be identified precisely as the remains of the Storm Shadow cruise missile. Affiliated with Russian military pilots, media also report that a missile strike was targeted at the locations of personnel at the airfield. Presumably, as a result of the attack, the command and flight crews could be hit.

The airfield of Berdyansk is actively used as an infrastructure facility and place of deployment of the army aviation of the invaders.

According to Western OSINT analysts, more than a dozen Russian helicopters were spotted in recent satellite images of the airport on June 28.

Satellite images of Berdyansk airport are dated June 28.

The attack on the airport should temporarily complicate the activities of Russian aviation on the line of contact and facilitate the advance of Ukrainian troops, because Russian attack helicopters posed a significant threat to the advancing armored vehicles.
