AUDS anti-UAV defense systems handed over to Ukraine

They are designed to suppress drones in the air. The footage of the use of this system in Ukraine was shown by German journalist Julian Ropke. AUDS combines electronic scanning radar target detection and directional RF suppression capability.

The system can operate in remote or urban areas to prevent UAVs from being used for terrorist attacks or reconnaissance. Three British companies participated in the development of the AUDS system to suppress drones, namely: Blighter Surveillance Systems, Enterprise Control Systems and Chess Dynamics.

Once the system's radar detects the signal of the drone during scanning, a video camera equipped with thermal imaging sensors is immediately activated. The detected drone is then exposed to a powerful radio signal to determine its interaction with the control operator. For example, the operator of the drone receives a signal that the UAV has a malfunction.

In fact, at this time, the operator of the AUDS system chooses to suppress the control signal for a short time or increase the exposure time to the UAV until its battery is completely discharged and it falls.

"It's all about the radio signal, because drone manufacturers use a limited frequency range. Our device sends a signal at these frequencies using a directional antenna. The signal is so powerful that the drone stops hearing all other commands," said a representative of the Enterprise Control Systems company about the system.

In 2015, the system passed tests funded by the British government and was being prepared for serial production.

The system also includes a Blighter A400 radar that helps identify targets.

According to the developers, AUDS can detect UAVs at a distance of up to 10 km and is capable of operating effectively in difficult environments, day and night and in all weather conditions.

As previously reported, the production of portable C-Vog UAS countermeasure systems, which are supposed to counteract enemy drones, was launched in Mukachevo this year.
