RBC-Ukraine reported on this, citing SSU sources. It is noted that the counterintelligence officers of the 13th Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine carried out the operation. The media reports that kamikaze drones hit four Su-30 fighter jets and one MiG-29 fighter aircraft.
Radars of the S-300 system and two Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile systems are also among the destroyed targets.
According to the available information, three drones were shot down, while the rest reached their targets. "Judging by the fact that even the Russians themselves recorded at least 13 explosions, the hit was quite impressive. We will learn about the exact consequences of the damage and the number of dead and wounded in the near future," the SSU added.
Roman Starovoyt, the governor of the Kursk region, confirmed the attack. He claimed that one of the drones crashed into a high-rise building. The damage to the buildings was not significant, with some glass broken on some floors.
"According to preliminary information, at night in Kursk, a drone crashed into an apartment building on Karl Marx Street.
The windows were blown out on some floors. The blast wave also damaged several windows in the building of the engineering faculty of the Kursk State Agricultural Academy on Karl Marx St.," Starovoyt reported. The Russian Defense Ministry also confirmed the drone attack and stated that UAVs were used.
"On-duty air defense means detected and destroyed in flight two unmanned aerial vehicles over the territory of the Bryansk and Kursk regions," the Russian Ministry of Defense said.
