CIA creates a new video to recruit Russians
The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has created new video content to recruit Russians. The CIA said that the video "Why I contacted the CIA: For My Own Sake" is intended to persuade Russians to cooperate with the U.S. intelligence service.
"This video shows a fictionalized Russian making the difficult but important decision to secretly contact the CIA," the intelligence service said. The U.S. intelligence service recommends that Russians use the Tor browser for contacts, which is designed to ensure anonymity on the Internet. Thus, the CIA seeks to obtain various information from Russia, and for this purpose they are looking for reliable people who know and can tell important information.
First of all, the U.S. intelligence service is looking for Russian military officers, intelligence officers, diplomats and scientists. "It is our professional duty to protect everyone who works with us around the world," the CIA said.
This is not the first video of its kind; earlier, the CIA released the video "Why I contacted the CIA: My Decision". According to the U.S. officials, the videos do not intend to stir up anxiety among people who support Russian President Putin.
The videos are aimed to clarify the process of contacting the CIA for those who are dissatisfied with the current situation.
CIA officials involved in the project said that Russia's invasion of Ukraine has created a historic opportunity "for the Russians to come to us and give us information that the United States needs".
Before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Federal Bureau of Investigation launched a similar project for Russians in the United States.
