Lithuania to repair Ukraine’s Leopard tanks this month

On Tuesday, Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anusauskas attended the Ramstein format meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group and for the first time met with the new Defence Minister of Ukraine Rustem Umierov on the margins of the meeting. During Ramstein, Anusauskas also presented to the Allies Lithuania's latest package of military assistance to Ukraine which is set to include detonation systems, naval surveillance radars. The package will also include ammunition for the Carl Gustaf anti-tank grenade launcher.

In addition, Leopard tanks for Ukraine will be repaired in Lithuania starting in September. The Lithuanian Minister also signed a Declaration of Intent in support of the IT assistance coalition for Ukraine, or IT Coalition, which will help cybersecurity of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Anusauskas underscored the importance of the formed Ukraine demining coalition, which is currently being created, and called on other countries to join it "by contributing training, equipment or financial contributions."

Lithuania's total military assistance to Ukraine has already exceeded £500 million since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Also, the new Minister of Defense of Latvia Andris Spruds held a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umierov on the fields of Ramstein. At the meeting, he presented a new aid package and announced that Riga would join the IT Coalition.
