Zelenskyy imposes sanctions against over 300 companies and individuals from Russia and other countries

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, issued two decrees validating the decision of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine (NSDC) from 23 November about imposing economic sanctions against a number of Russians and Russian companies. The list also contains the Moscow Energy Directorate, Salekhardenergo, LOESK-Electric Grids ?f Saint Petersburg ?nd Leningrad Region, Volgogradoblelectro, Moscow Regional Power Grid Company, Rosseti Kuban and others.

In addition to this, the sanctions were imposed against the Shakhta Imeni A.F. Zasyadko in the so-called Donetsk People's Republic, Soyuzenergoindustria, Soyuzenergoproekt etc. The same decree also imposes sanctions for the time period of 10 years against 87 individuals, including Russian and Ukrainian citizens.

The sanctions mainly provide for the blocking of assets, restricting trade operations and prevention of moving capital outside the borders of Ukraine. In particular, the sanctions lists include Volodymyr Sivkovych, the former secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council, who is currently in the Russian Federation, as well as Leonid Kharchenko, who is accused of the crash of the Malaysian Airlines airliner on the MN17 flight. In addition, on the list are the top managers of the USM group of companies owned by the Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov: Nazim Efendiev, Vakhtang Kocharov and Valery Kazikaev, as well as Natan Viner, the son of Usmanov's wife Irina Viner.

Among the people on the list are also Anatoly Chubais, the former head of the Russian presidential administration, and Andrei Demin, the commander of the air and missile defence forces and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation.
