The Czech publication iROZHLAS reported on this. Volunteers and members of the Czech security forces founded the Group D association under the auspices of Chief of the General Staff of the Military of the Czech Republic Karel Rehka to launch a fundraiser for 10,000 drones. "The Russians have realized the importance of drones on the battlefield and are increasing their production during the war.
They do it in prisons and schools. We understand that we need to react somehow," says investor and army reserve soldier Jan Veverka. In the coming days, the association will launch a public fundraiser called Nemesis, during which it plans to raise about one hundred million kronor, equivalent to £4.5 million.
The military's initiative
There are other fundraisers in the Czech Republic to help Ukraine, but according to Rehka, the Group D initiative is unique as it knows exactly what and where the Ukrainian military needs most, thanks to its soldiers.
"Since the association has connections with people in the military and active reserve, it is able to assess well what can really have a strategic impact. And drones are one of those cases," the Czech military leader explained. The Czech military leader explained that the project participants will make efforts to ensure that the drones are produced with the knowledge and suggestions received from Ukraine.
In addition, the association can also check how resistant the selected drones are to EW signals. According to Rehka, the creation of the association is also beneficial for the Czech military, as, like during the training of Ukrainian soldiers in the Czech Republic, it will also be able to acquire knowledge gained from the Russian-Ukrainian war. "Our Ukrainian partners are ready to share all their experience with us, organize professional seminars with us, and provide us with invaluable information.
It's just that no one gives you this.
And if you give someone a few thousand drones, it also has an effect," says Rehka.
