New Polish Minister of Agrarian Policy speaks with Ukrainian counterpart for first time

Details: The Polish minister emphasised that the border on the Polish side is also the border of the European Union, and that various discussions on distinct topics of negotiation will take place in conjunction with the start of EU negotiations with Ukraine.

The Ukrainian ministry also indicated that they proposed to hold a ministerial meeting in Kyiv or on the Polish-Ukrainian border.
In September 2023, the European Commission lifted restrictions on import of Ukrainian agricultural products to five eastern EU countries, which was introduced due to complaints from local farmers. But three states - Poland, Slovakia and Hungary - announced unilateral restrictions on Ukrainian imports for certain types of products in response. At the same time, the European Commission observes no adverse effects of Ukrainian agricultural imports on European markets.
