The SSU reported on this. As a result of the special operation, the SSU counterintelligence detained in the regional center the leader of the enemy group, who on October 18, 2023, adjusted Russian missiles strikes on an apartment building in the city center. The enemy missile strike killed five civilians and five more were injured.
According to the investigation, the leader of a group of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation was detained. He turned out to be a local resident, a representative of the Zaporizhzhia "military reenactment club" that brings together fans of reenacting historical events, including military battles.
In mid-October 2023, the detainee was remotely recruited by the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation to conduct reconnaissance and subversive activities in a frontline city. For covert communication with the Russian secret service, the detainee chose the operational pseudonym "Palestinian" and created an anonymous chat room in a popular messenger. To fulfill his tasks, the FSB agent created his own group of informants, consisting of four local residents, including relatives.

According to the investigation, they reconnoitered the locations of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Zaporizhzhia region, as well as transmitted the geolocation of dwelling infrastructure and industrial facilities. To collect the relevant information, they made rounds of the area and took photos and videos with geolocation on their own phones. They passed the material to the detainee, who in turn sent it to his FSB liaison in the temporarily occupied city of the Zaporizhzhia region.
During the searches of the detained FSB agent's and his henchmen' residences, firearms, computer equipment and mobile phones with evidence of criminal activity were seized. Also, the law enforcement officers found prohibited Soviet and pro-Kremlin symbols. Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators served the detainee with a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons under martial law) and a measure of restraint in the form of detention in custody has been imposed.
He faces life imprisonment. As Militarnyi previously reported, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian supporter who was adjusting missile strikes in the Zaporizhzhia region and was awaiting the occupation of the region. According to the investigation, the detainee is a church chorister and the wife of a pastor of a local UOC-MP church (Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate).
She transmitted coordinates of possible locations of Ukrainian Defense Forces near the region center to the Russian secret service.
