A frame from the video of Volodymyr Zelensky The Ukrainian military took control of the spoil tip in the Horlivka area of the Donetsk region. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, released a video with the installation of the Ukrainian flag on this slagheap.
"Despite the difficult conditions, we regained control over one of the spoil tips within Horlivka and captured the enemy's positions. Now our flag is flying over the spoil tip," the President said. Also on the slagheap, the Ukrainian military captured the Russian invaders.
It is known that the operation, in particular, involved soldiers of the assault group of the 24th Mechanized Brigade. Spoil tip (pile built of accumulated spoil--waste material removed during mining) is located between the northwestern outskirts of occupied Horlivka and the village of Pivdenne, which Ukrainian soldiers liberated back in 2018.
The military was able to repel the high point in difficult conditions, capture positions, and install the Ukrainian flag on the spoil tip. The invaders reported the loss of this heap back in November, but there was no official confirmation from the Ukrainian side then.

According to the invaders, in November, the Ukrainian Armed Forces conducted several waves of attacks, trying to take control of several heaps at once and even entered the territory of one of the Horlivka mines. Through these actions, the Russians explained the desire of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to allegedly divert the attention of the Russian Federation from the Avdiivka direction.

Recall that Horlivka has been occupied since 2014 due to Russian armed aggression.
