Belgium Plans €611 Million Military Aid Package for Ukraine in 2024
In 2024, Belgium plans to provide Ukraine with EUR611 million in military aid and help modernize its defense forces. Ukraine's Defense Minister, Rustem Umierov, discussed this matter over the phone with the Belgian Defense Minister, Ludivine Dedonder. "We discussed the latest developments on the frontline and the prospects for defense cooperation between our countries," Rustem Umierov added.
Umierov thanked his Belgian counterpart for participating in the Air Force coalition, particularly in the pilot training program. "I highly appreciate the unwavering support of our Belgian partners. This year, Belgium plans to provide EUR611 million in military aid and has a long-term commitment to support the modernization of our Defense Forces," Umierov said.

Dedonder did not comment on the conversation, but on her official page on the social network X (formerly Twitter) she reposted a post from the official account of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine about these negotiations. Belgium has consistently provided financial assistance to Ukraine on multiple occasions. Last year, the country provided one of its largest aid packages, stepping up military assistance for Ukraine.
In addition, Belgium is actively involved in the training of Ukrainian pilots on the F-16s.
As previously reported, in March 2024, Belgium will transfer two two-seat F-16BM combat trainer aircraft to Denmark for the purpose of training Ukrainian pilots.
