Cat dies in Kyiv Oblast shelter during large-scale Russian attack – photo

A cat called Zhovten (October) died in a shelter of the Zoopatrul (Zoopatrol) organisation in the town of Irpin (Kyiv Oblast) during a large-scale Russian attack on 2 January. The animal's heart failed. The tragic news was reported on Zoopatrol's social media.

"Unfortunately, not all of the animals in our shelter survived the enemy attack.

It was very noisy at night because of the bombardments and air defence operations. The power went out in the shelter. The dogs were trembling, and Zhovten just seemed frozen in place," the animal rights activists said.

The cat was rescued in October 2022 and hence got the name Zhovten. The animal was found on the side of the road with its hind legs broken, but animal rights activists helped Zhovten to recover completely.

Cat Zhovten did not survive the large-scale attack on Kyiv Oblast He was supposed to travel to Paris in January to join his new family.

Unfortunately, he did not survive the Russian bombardment.

The pet's heart stopped "Zhovten is our local legend. He 'ruled' the cats' house; he was tough on the outside but gentle in his heart.

On the night of 2 January, the Russian forces launched the second largest air attack on Ukraine, firing 99 missiles on Ukrainian cities.
The cat was taken to the shelter in October 2022 when he was found injured near the road.
At least 50 people were injured in Kyiv, and two people were killed.

Two people died in Kyiv Oblast and one in Kharkiv.
Animals have also suffered from Russian crimes.

A lioness, Yuna, was injured at the Wildlife Rescue Centre in Kyiv Oblast; she suffered a concussion and could not stand up.
