In particular, the Russians developed pneumatic frame models of a 9?317 TEL that is a part of this system. After the engineering troops of the Russian armed forces are equipped with these mock-ups, they are trained to quickly deploy them. The Russian army, in order to misinform the intelligence services of other states, has been buying mock-ups and decoys for many years.

The main task that is solved when using decoys is to distract the main strike from these systems, as well as to mislead the enemy about the real amount of military equipment located in a certain area.

It is known that the Russian Ministry of Defense also has been purchasing mock-ups of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems for a long time. Work on these air defense systems' mock-ups was carried out by the Russian enterprise Rusbal. In 2016, the Russian Ministry of Defense almost doubled the order of means of imitation and disguise of military equipment.
