This was reported by the official website of the SSU. He conducted reconnaissance of the area and carried out photos and video recordings of the locations of Defense Forces in the region. He was interested in the places of greatest concentration of personnel and heavy weapons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which are involved in the defense of the border areas of the region.

For collecting intelligence, the intruder bypassed territories and, under the guise of a telephone conversation, conducted video recording of the Defense Forces deployment. An additional task of this person involved was the creation of his own network of informants who had to inform him about the movement of units of Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the SSU, the detainee transmitted the available information to the Russian FSB, which they planned to use to carry out targeted missile and artillery attacks on military facilities of Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as to prepare routes for the breakthrough of Russian SRGs on the border region of Sumy.

Thanks to the operational actions of the SSU, the Russian agent was detained. According to the investigation, the 54-year-old resident of the city of Sumy, whom a Russian secret service remotely recruited in August 2023, was detained.

He was interested in the Russian special services through his anti-Ukrainian views and pro-Kremlin comments on his own page on Odnoklassniki social media.

After recruiting, the intruder contacted the Russian special services through a messenger, through which he transmitted relevant intelligence information. For the tasks performed, invaders sent their henchman a monetary reward that came to him through cryptocurrency payments. During searches, a bank card and a mobile phone with evidence of illegal activity were seized from the detainee.

The attacker is in custody.

He faces life imprisonment.

As Militarnyi reported earlier, a Russian agent spying on the 3rd Assault Brigade of Armed Forces of Ukraine was detained in Kyiv.
