Three U.S. Army Soldiers Killed in a Drone Attack in Jordan

28 January, 2024 Illustrative photo of the US military in the Middle East. Photo credits: AFP. As a result of a drone attack on a small U.S. outpost, Tower 22, in Jordan, three soldiers were killed and more than twenty-five service members were injured.

CNN reported on this with reference to the U.S. military. President Joseph Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, have posted condolences to the families of the victims on the official White House website. "Jill and I join the families and friends of our fallen--and Americans across the country--in grieving the loss of these warriors in this despicable and wholly unjust attack.

These service members embodied the very best of our nation: Unwavering in their bravery. Unflinching in their duty. Unbending in their commitment to our country-- risking their own safety for the safety of their fellow Americans, and our allies and partners with whom we stand in the fight against terrorism.

It is a fight we will not cease," the statement reads.

In addition, the U.S. President promised to bring the perpetrators to justice.

This is the first time that U.S. troops have been killed by enemy fire in the Middle East since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip. Officials said the drone was launched by Iran-backed militants and appeared to have come from Syria.

U.S. troops in the Middle East

The United States has deployed troops in almost every country in the Middle East. Today, active military facilities are located in Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman.

Since the outbreak of hostilities in the Gaza Strip, attacks on U.S. facilities have become almost routine. Most attacks were carried out using drones and missiles. As a result of these attacks, in addition to three U.S.

Army servicemen, one contractor (a fighter for a legitimate private military company) was killed.

Militarnyi previously reported that the United States had no plans to withdraw its troops from Iraq. Currently, the number of troops in Iraq is about 2,500.

Pentagon Press Secretary Air Force Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder reported on this.

Ryder added that U.S. troops are in Iraq at the invitation of the government. He said he was also unaware that Baghdad had notified the U.S. Department of Defense of the decision to withdraw U.S. troops and directed journalists to the U.S.
