Turkish Songar Multicopter Integrates 40mm Grenade Launcher

Turkish companies Asisguard and Repkon Savunma Sistemleri successfully integrated a RDS40-MGL 40mm grenade launcher into the Songar multicopter. Asisguard reported about this. Asisguard General Manager, Ayhan Sunar, said they are proud to be able to contribute to the goals set by the country to strengthen Turkey's defence industry ecosystem.

Ugur Cem Gurpinar, Business Development and Corporate Communication at Repkon Savunma Sistemleri, highlighted their achievements in developing a new concept for using a revolver-type grenade launcher. In 2021, Militarnyi reported that the Song multicopter was armed with TOGAN 81mm mortar rounds.

The weight of the multicopter is 25 kilograms, the range is 16 kilometers, the flight altitude is 2.8 kilometers.

The drone is equipped with a camera with day and night channels that transmit video in real time. The Songar can be equipped with small arms in the form of an assault rifle, machine gun, or 40mm grenade launcher and is capable of dropping small bombs.

For targeting, the drone uses data from cameras and a laser rangefinder.

The special structure, to which the weapon is attached, is able to minimize recoil after firing.

UAVs are capable of carrying 200 5.56x45 mm rounds of ammunition and are equipped with an automatic fire system.

At the same time, Songar can be equipped with a system that allows the UAV to perform tasks in swarm mode.
